Biotrace International Awarded Contract by
Graseby Dynamics

for Design and Development of Reagents to the
Ministry of Defence

Biotrace, Bridgend - Biotrace International
plc, leader in the manufacture and marketing
of rapid response systems for hygiene
cleanliness and microbial detection, today
announces that it has won a contract to
assist in the design and development of the
Ministry of Defence's Integrated Biological
Detection System ("IBDS").

The contract, worth over #250,000 to
Biotrace, is from Graseby Dynamics Ltd., part
of the Smiths Industries Group and world-
leader in the design and manufacture of
chemical agent monitors.  This is Biotrace's
first major development contract for the
supply of technical know-how used in the
detection of biological and chemical agents
and is an important new alliance for the
Group.   The IBDS is a self contained mobile
unit for monitoring biological warfare agents
and consists of a series of complementary
detectors which will operate to rapidly
detect and identify specific agents with
confidence in near-real time.

     reagents to MoD for this application,

The Graseby contract is the first
demonstration of the success of Biotraces
new strategy which was explained for the
first time in its Interim Results earlier
this month. As part of this strategy, the
Sales and Marketing teams have been
restructured to ensure full advantage is
taken of the individual business sectors via
the creation of sector-based business units.
In addition to the Civil Defence and
Military, Biotrace is concentrating its
efforts on the Food Service and Catering,
Industrial and Environmental markets.
