Charlton Athletic plc ("Charlton") - appointment of director

Charlton  are pleased to announce the immediate appointment  of
Gideon  Benjamin  Cecil Franklin, aged 38, as  a  non-executive
director.

Gideon Franklin is an executive director of Morgan Stanley Dean
Witter, where he works as an equity analyst with responsibility
for  the  European capital goods sector. He has been at  Morgan
Stanley  Dean Witter for the past seven years and in  the  City
for sixteen years, previously with Cazenove & Co and UBS.

Richard Murray, Executive Chairman of Charlton commented:

"I  am  delighted to announce Gideon's appointment to the Board
of  Directors. Gideon is a committed supporter of the  football
team and a major shareholder as well. Gideon brings a wealth of
City  and financial experience to our Board and we look forward
