SHARE BUYBACK


Following the announcement on 6th September that Charlton Athletic plc (the "
Company") had received approval from shareholders for the cancellation of its
listing on AIM and in accordance with the authority granted at the Annual
General Meeting on 18th January 2006, the Company announces that it today made
on market purchases of 1,703 ordinary shares of 50p each in the issued share
capital of the Company at a price of 42p per ordinary share. These ordinary
shares have been purchased for cancellation.

The issued share capital of the Company will subsequently be 63,895,923.

As announced on 6th September, the cancellation of the admission of the
Company's issued ordinary shares of 50p each to AIM will take effect from 7am
tomorrow.
