Partner to Licence Oxford University Graphene Patent
Application
Cientifica, the AIM-quoted investment company focussing on the
acquisition of businesses making use of advanced materials,
graphene and emerging technologies, announces that Cientifica's
partner London Graphene Ltd has signed an option agreement with
ISIS Innovation Limited, the technology transfer office for the
University of Oxford.
The London Graphene option agreement is to licence a patent
filed by Isis Innovation Limited for the Department of Materials at
the University of Oxford. The patent application relates to a
process for producing two-dimensional nanomaterials, including high
quality chemical vapour disposition (CVD) graphene on copper foil.
This could pave the way for more effective electronic storage
devices. The option is exclusive in the field of capacitors and
batteries.
Tim Harper, CEO of Cientifica PLC commented:
"Energy is one of the world's largest markets and the need for
innovation and improved storage is clear. As we announced in
January, Cientifica and London Graphene are working together to
identify and address the need for improved energy storage systems
in applications such as portable devices, automobiles and renewable
energy systems.
"The intellectual property contained in this option to licence
forms a cornerstone of our strategy in this market."
