Cientifica Welcomes Graphene Budget Boost

Cientifica, the AIM-quoted Graphene investment company, welcomes the additional funding announced in yesterday's Budget for the establishment of a Graphene innovation centre to provide SMEs with access to cutting-edge equipment for the research and development of novel Graphene products within the UK.

Chancellor George Osborne commented "...we will establish new centres ... and for Graphene - a great British discovery that we should break the habit of a lifetime with and commercially develop in Britain."

In accordance with its investment strategy, Cientifica is looking to invest in the development of Graphene products, and is accordingly very pleased to hear of the intentions outlined in the Budget.

Tim Harper, CEO of Cientifica PLC, said:

"This is a welcome boost to the development of Graphene in the UK, and comes on top of the GBP850million budget for development of Graphene announced by the EU last year. While any companies producing graphene are under pressure from Asian manufacturers who already have announced large scale capacity, the application of graphene in commercial products remains a significant opportunity for the UK."
