In accordance with Listing Rule 17.1 Diamonex Limited requests ASX to 
grant a trading halt in relation to its securities.  In accordance 
with Listing Rule 17.1 the company states the following: 
 
Reason for trading halt 
 
The trading halt is requested pending confirmation of the status of 
Diamonex Limited's Botswana operations carried on through its 
subsidiary Diamonex (Botswana) Limited. 
 
Length of trading halt 
 
Until 10am (AEDT) Tuesday 27 January 2009 or until the announcement 
by the company is made. 
 
The event that the company expects to happen that will end the 
trading halt 
 
An announcement by the company. 
 
The company is not aware of any reason why the trading halt should 
not be granted or of any other information necessary to inform the 
market about the trading halt.

carat per year diamond mine at Lerala, in eastern Botswana.  The mine 
is 100% owned and is  located in an area that  produces up to 30%  of

diamonds, as well as a 9.3 hectare diamondiferous kimberlitic pipe in
