The Board of Govett Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust Limited ("the
Company") received on 4th May 2001 a requisition from Regent Europe holding not
less than 11.5 per cent of the issued share capital, requesting that the
Directors convene an extraordinary general meeting of the Company.  The
requisition requires the meeting to consider special resolutions that the
Company be summarily wound up and that a liquidator be appointed for the
purposes of winding up and be granted the powers of the directors in such
winding up.

The Board is considering this requisition and will be writing to shareholders
shortly.
