HOME ENTERTAINMENT CORPORATION PLC - AGM statement

30 SEPTEMBER 2004 -- At the annual general meeting of Home Entertainment
Corporation being held today, Chairman Iain Muspratt will make the following
statement to shareholders:

"We have now completed 16 weeks of our current financial year during which Group
turnover has risen by 9.2%. Sales were 55% (2003 - 50%) of total turnover and
rental 45% (2003 - 50%). The proliferation of sport during the period led to
distributors releasing fewer major titles than during the same time last year.
Operating profits for the aggregate 16 weeks are above those for the previous
year.

"During the period, Choices Video opened 8 new stores which are trading in line
with expectations. Like for like sales were up 8%. The new EPOS system has
allowed us to introduce a range of new activities and to improve operating
margins.

"Video Box Office has continued to grow its customer base and extend the range
of its activities.

"Choices Direct business has grown despite the absence of the same number of
major new releases as occurred in the equivalent period last year.

"Moviechoices continues to develop and its progress is being carefully
monitored.

"The move to our new logistics centre was completed in early August and will
enable us to improve efficiency and provide additional capacity. We have
incurred certain dual running costs during this period, but expect those to
diminish as the year progresses.

"As our overall business benefits from the higher proportion of sales orientated
activities we are introducing, the late autumn and Christmas periods become
increasingly important. We approach this time with confidence and determination,
but clearly we cannot foresee how the overall economy will adjust to higher
interest rates and commodity prices.

"Quality of service is of paramount importance and we have made further strides
in building upon our high standards. The contribution all HEC staff have made in
this direction is considerable and my colleagues and I thank them for their
efforts."
