                         Notification of s. 198 Notice

i-mate plc (London AIM:IMTE) received on Monday 18 December 2006, the following
s.198 notification dated 15 December 2006:

Schroder Investment Management Limited has an interest in 9,907,350 i-mate plc
5p Ordinary shares ("shares") which are held in portfolios management by it on a
discretionary basis for clients under investment management agreements.

Included in this figure are:

1.  3, 171,903 shares held in unit trusts operated and managed by an affiliated
company, Schroder Unit Trusts Limited (SUTL), and registered or to be registered
in the name of Chase Nominees Limited.

2.  6,735,447 shares neither registered or to be registered in the name of
Schroder Nominees Limited. The registration details are as follows:

A fellow subsidiary, Schroder Investment Management North America Limited (SIMNA
Ltd), is managing a portfolio on a similar basis holding a further 2,100,000
shares. These shares are registered or to be registered in the name of Chase
Nominees Limited.

Schroder Investment Management Limited and its affiliated company are therefore
interested in a total overall aggregate of 12,007,350 shares, representing some
10.029% of the total number of shares in issue, namely 119,722,915.

This notification is made in respect of Schroder Investment Management Limited's
interest asinvestment managers, on behalf of SUTL's interests they are treated
as having under the Companies Act 1985 (the "Act") and by Schroders plc,
Schroder Investment Management Limited's holding company, which is treated as
having an interest in all of the above shares under the Act by virtue of its
ownership of SUTL and Schroder Investment Management Limited.
