Marakand Minerals Limited ("the Company") has received notification of the Uzbek
government's decision to supercede the previous decrees pertaining to Khandiza
and their intention to transfer the resource to AGMK (Almalyk), the state owned
base metal miner/smelter.

The Company and representatives of the British government have in the past year
received numerous assurances from senior government officials of its ongoing
involvement in the development on Khandiza.

We are seeking clarification of the precise intention of the government and will
be looking to make a public statement shortly.
