    The New Zealand Investment Trust Plc (the "Company")

The Company submitted an application to the UK Listing Authority ("UKLA") for a
dispensation under paragraph 15.4.4 R of the Listing Rules from the close
period provisions of the Model Code in relation to dealings in the Company's
ordinary shares. The close period relates to the year ended 31 October 2006 and
commenced on 1 November 2006 and is expected to end in December 2006 with the
Preliminary Announcement of results. The Company today announces that it has
now received confirmation from the UKLA that such a dispensation has been
granted.
