Discount and Liquidity Initiatives

Pacific Alliance Asia Opportunity Fund Limited ("PAX" or the "Company") (AIM: PAX), the closed-end investment company admitted to trading on AIM and listed feeder for Pacific Alliance Asia Opportunity Fund L.P. (the "Master Fund"), announces that following the Master Fund's recent purchase of 20,730,708 of the Company's ordinary shares, which made it a substantial shareholder with a direct interest in 27.27 per cent. of the Company's voting rights, the Board is evaluating new initiatives to reduce the share price discount and enable shareholders to realise the value in their holdings at or close to the Company's Net Asset Value.

The Board expects to complete its evaluation and announce these new initiatives in the coming week.
