Statement re Patient Power Review Group (PPRG) report.

Patientline notes the publication of the Patient Power Review Group report
regarding the provision of bedside telecommunications services to patients.
Patientline welcomes the report's recommendation that the Department of Health
should work directly with service providers to find a solution to the issue of
high incoming call charges.  Patientline operates exclusive service agreements
with 157 hospitals around the UK based on long-term contracts.  These agreements
are unaffected by the lapsing of the current Patient Power licenses.


Commenting on the report, Geoff White, Chairman of Patientline said:


'We strongly urge the Department of Health to resolve this issue which has
been under review since January 2006. High incoming call charges are unfair to 
all concerned and we have long wanted to reduce the burden placed on friends 
and family by these charges.  We are willing and able to reach an agreement 
with the Department of Health at the earliest opportunity.  This would enable 
an immediate reduction in incoming call charges and we ask the Department to
act as a matter of urgency.'
