Requisition from State Street Nominees Limited on behalf of Scottish Widows Unit
Funds Limited

The Board of the Company confirms that today it has received a requisition from
State Street Nominees Limited on behalf of Scottish Widows Unit Funds Limited
requisitioning an extraordinary general meeting of the Company to consider
ordinary resolutions for the appointment of Malcolm King, Richard Prosser and
Charles Wilkinson as directors and removal of the current directors, and
requesting that proposals from Scottish Widows Unit Funds Limited for a winding
up of the Company be put forward (the "Proposals").

Subject to confirmation from its advisers as to the validity of the requisition,
the Board will convene an extraordinary general meeting within 21 days to
consider these resolutions.

Although the Board has attempted, without success, to engage Scottish Widows
Investment Partnership Limited since February 2007 in relation to its clients'
shareholdings in the Company, the Board only received these Proposals today.
Accordingly, the Board has not had the opportunity to consider these Proposals
or discuss them in detail with its advisers. The Board has also not yet had the
opportunity to discuss these Proposals with Scottish Widows Unit Funds Limited
and other shareholders. The Board looks forward to meeting the directors of
Scottish Widows Unit Funds Limited.

After the Board has had the opportunity to discuss these proposals with its
advisers, Scottish Widows Unit Funds Limited and the other shareholders, the
Board expects to make a further announcement prior to the publication of any
circular. In considering any proposals, the Board will consider whether they are
in the best interests of all shareholders.
