                             Zambezi Nickel Limited

           NICKEL SULPHIDES DISCOVERED AT MAVITA PROJECT, MOZAMBIQUE

Zambezi Nickel Ltd ("Zambezi" or the "Company") (AIM: ZNI) today announces
results of field activities completed on the Mavita Project, Mozambique.

In the last field season, Zambezi's activities included the following
programmes:

*         Regional stream sediment sampling

*         Reconnaissance geological mapping

*         Rock chip sampling

*         Petrology studies

* Geophysical survey (airborne magnetic and radiometric survey)

Final results and interpretation of this work have now been received and reveal
the presence of significant strike extents of ultramafic sequences. These
ultramafic units include serpentinised meta-komatiite, which is highly
prospective for nickel sulphide mineralisation and where sampled, has coincident
stream sediment nickel geochemical anomalies up to 1264ppm Ni. In addition, rock
chip samples assayed up to 5500ppm Ni.

Detailed mapping of the Moussapa South Complex, located in the south west of the
project area, identified sulphides that were later determined by petrological
studies to be the nickel sulphide species millerite and polydimite.

Zambezi Managing Director Jim Kerr said yesterday "This initial exploration
effort is very encouraging. We have confirmation of extensive sequences of
highly prospective lithologies that have associated large nickel geochemical
anomalies. In particular, today's confirmation of the discovery of nickel
sulphide species within these prospective lithologies at Mavita significantly
enhances the prospectivity of the project.

Based on these results, Zambezi will continue with our exploration efforts at
Mavita with the intention of defining specific drill targets through the
completion of detailed soil geochemical surveys, geological mapping, trenching
and additional geophysical surveys."

Zambezi Nickel is actively reviewing a number of African mineral opportunities
with the intention of expanding its portfolio of assets.

About the Mavita Project

On 20 September 2006 Zambezi Nickel Ltd entered into a Joint Venture with BHP
Billiton Plc over two Prospecting Licences that comprise the Mavita nickel
project, located in the Manica province of central western Mozambique. Under
the general terms of the Joint Venture, to acquire the licences Zambezi Nickel
must spend US$150,000 on exploration within 18 months from the commencement of
the Joint Venture.

BHP Billiton has the right to re-acquire the project from Zambezi Nickel if ZNI
defines a JORC compliant Inferred Resource containing in excess of 200,000
metric tonnes of nickel metal. The acquisition cost to BHP Billiton would be
250% of total exploration expenditure plus a 2.5% Net Smelter Return granted to
ZNI.

The project covers ultramafic units prospective for nickel, as evidenced by
highly encouraging geochemical sample results from reconnaissance exploration
undertaken by WMC Resources and ZNI.

Zambezi Nickel has fulfilled its initial Joint Venture expenditure obligations.

About Zambezi Nickel

Admitted to AIM on October 2005, ZNI is a nickel-focussed exploration company
operating in Zambia and Mozambique. Targeting nickel sulphide mineralisation at
its Mitaba Hills project in Zambia, ZNI completed an extensive programme of
mapping, drilling and geophysics over the last field season. Work to date has
confirmed the presence of extensive nickel mineralisation in the laterite
profile developed over the Mitaba and Mitaba West prospects with modest tenor
nickel mineralisation at depth. The evaluation of nickel laterite at Mitaba is
ongoing.

ZNI is also exploring the Paulwi Hills layered intrusive complex in Zambia.
Paulwi is prospective for nickel as well as Platinoid Group Metals (PGMs) ,
being geologically similar to the platinum-rich Bushveld Complex of South
Africa.

ZNI is actively pursuing new opportunities in the Southern African Development
Community (SADC) and elsewhere and looks forward to providing an update of this
activity in the near future.
