ROSELAND, N.J., Nov. 21,
2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ADP®, a leading
provider of human resource outsourcing, payroll services, tax and
compliance services, benefits administration and integrated
computing solutions for vehicle dealers, today announced that its
industry-leading Tax Credit Services business is prepared to
identify, screen and certify the tens of thousands of veterans
whose hiring now would make their employers eligible to claim the
federal Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC).
President Obama today signed the 3% Withholding Repeal and Job
Creation Act (H.R. 674) after the legislation passed the House of
Representatives with a vote of 422-0 and received a 95-0 vote in
the Senate. The bill includes the Returning Heroes and Wounded
Warriors Work Opportunity Tax Credit, which creates four new
categories of veterans who are eligible for WOTC certification:
- Veterans who have received at least four weeks of unemployment
benefits in the year prior to their hire. The credit is equal to 40
percent of the first $6,000 in wages
paid to them, for a total of $2,400.
- Disabled veterans who have been discharged or released from
active duty in the year prior to their hire. The credit is equal to
40 percent of the first $12,000 in
wages, for a total of $4,800.
- Veterans who have received at least six months of unemployment
benefits in the year prior to their hire. The credit is equal to 40
percent of the first $14,000 in
wages, for a total of $5,600.
- Disabled veterans who have received at least six months of
unemployment benefits in the year prior to their hire. The credit
is equal to 40 percent of the first $24,000 in wages, for a total of $9,600.
ADP Tax Credit Services has examined the impact of these new
categories on the WOTC certification process and expanded its
screening methods to include the new veteran categories.
"An important way of honoring our veterans and their
contribution to this country is through hiring these courageous men
and women when they enter the civilian workforce," said Sen.
Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.). "The
Returning Heroes and Wounded Warriors Work Opportunity Tax Credit
not only helps our veterans, but also gives employers an incentive
to gain from the world-class training, skills and work ethic that
veterans developed through their service."
"Veterans have demonstrated their dedication to the United States, and American businesses are
eager to put these talented individuals to work," said Jim Brown, senior vice president and general
manager, ADP Tax Credit Services. "ADP is proud to help employers
hire qualified veterans and benefit from the Work Opportunity Tax
Credit, and we have the systems in place to identify, screen and
certify these job candidates immediately."
Staffed with more than 500 tax credit professionals and a
dedicated team of government relations specialists, ADP also
provides employers screening and certification processes for
Federal Empowerment Zones (EZ) and Renewal Communities (RC)
employment credits and tax benefits, the Federal Indian Employment
Credit, and state credits and incentives. By providing services for
the WOTC and other employment tax credit opportunities, ADP allows
employers to maximize their benefits while bringing many unemployed
individuals back into the workforce.
