Private-sector employment increased in all nine U.S. Census Bureau Divisions during the month of July 2013, according to the monthly ADP Regional Employment Report(SM), which is produced by ADP®, a leading provider of global human capital management solutions, in collaboration with Moody's Analytics, Inc. Broadly distributed to the public each month, free of charge, the ADP Regional Employment Report measures monthly changes in regional nonfarm private employment on a seasonally adjusted basis.

"During the month of July, the Western region saw an accelerated growth rate compared to the previous month," said Ahu Yildirmaz, senior director of the ADP Research Institute®. "As a result, the West has replaced the South as the strongest contributor of growth. Meanwhile, nearly all 29 individual U.S. states we track, plus the District of Columbia, showed positive job growth rates in July, with the exception of Pennsylvania, which remained flat. Among the states recording the strongest increases in monthly job growth rates last month were Arizona, Oregon, Idaho, California, Washington and Texas."

On July 31, 2013, the ADP National Employment Report® reported that total U.S. private sector employment increased by a total of 200,000 jobs from June to July.

** Employment by state is determined by the location where employees work. In most cases, this approach aligns with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' measure of establishment employment, reflecting the state where an employee works. In some cases, a payroll located in a certain state may include employees from one or more states outside that state.

About the ADP Regional Employment Report(SM) The ADP Regional Employment Report(SM), which is produced by ADP in collaboration with Moody's Analytics, Inc., is a monthly estimate of private nonfarm employment in nine U.S. Census Bureau divisions, as well as 29 U.S. states, plus the District of Columbia. The report is a measure of employment derived from an anonymous subset of roughly 406,000 U.S. business clients, which employ more than 23 million workers in the U.S.

Each month, ADP issues the ADP Regional Employment Report as part of the company's commitment to adding deeper insights into the U.S. labor market and providing businesses, governments and others with a source of credible and valuable information. About the ADP National Employment Report® The ADP National Employment Report® is a monthly measure of the change in total U.S. nonfarm private employment derived from actual, anonymous payroll data of client companies served by ADP®, a leading provider of human capital management solutions. The report, which measures nearly 24 million U.S. workers, is published by the ADP Research Institute®, a specialized group within the company that provides insights around employment trends and workforce strategy, in collaboration with Moody's Analytics, Inc.

Each month, ADP issues the ADP National Employment Report as part of the company's commitment to adding deeper insights into the U.S. labor market and providing businesses, governments and others with a source of credible and valuable information. The ADP National Employment Report is broadly distributed to the public each month, free of charge.

The ADP Small Business Report® is a monthly estimate of private nonfarm employment among companies in the U.S. with 1-49 employees and is a subset of the ADP National Employment Report. The data for all three reports is collected for pay periods that can be interpolated to include the week of the 12th of each month, and processed with statistical methodologies similar to those used by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to compute employment from its monthly survey of establishments. Due to this processing, this subset is modified to make it indicative of national employment levels; therefore, the resulting employment changes computed for the ADP National Employment Report are not representative of changes in ADP's total base of U.S. business clients.
