ROSELAND, N.J., Feb. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire/
-- ADP® today announced that it has received
approval from the 28 European Union (EU) Data Protection
Authorities to implement Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs) as both a
data processor and data controller. To date, only a few
global companies have secured this distinction. This approval
means that ADP will implement the highest standards of global data
protection both as a processor of clients' data and as a data
controller for the personal data of its employees and other
business associates.
Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs) were developed by the European
Commission to allow multinational corporations, international
organizations, and groups of companies to make intra-organizational
transfers of personal data across borders in compliance with EU
Data Protection Laws.
"We're passionate about protecting the privacy of our clients'
and employees' personal information at every stage – as we define,
develop and refine our products and set the policies that govern
how we gather and manage data every single day," said Carlos Rodriguez, president and chief executive
officer at ADP. "Implementing Binding Corporate Rules
illustrates our commitment to protect personal data in accordance
with the standards required in the EU, regardless of where the
European data is processed, accessed or hosted."
By adopting Binding Corporate Rules, ADP will:
- Comply with its BCRs under the ongoing supervision of its Lead
Supervisory Authority (Dutch Data Protection Authority).
- Help its clients meet the highest standards expected by the
EU.
- Provide its clients with solutions that support their
multinational business needs with the added clarity and consistency
that come from adopting a single global standard.
- Provide clients with an extra level of governance over the
protection of their data.
To accomplish these standards, ADP has established a Privacy
Leadership Council comprised of cross-disciplinary professionals
who span the data protection, governance, legal, compliance and
support functions. These leaders play a vital role in
promoting the importance of privacy messaging across ADP, while
designated business leaders take on management responsibility for
the controlled processing of personal data within each ADP business
unit and function.
Many thousands of multinational enterprises and employees
worldwide trust ADP with their most sensitive personal information
every single day. As a BCR-approved data processor, ADP has
been recognized by European regulators as a trusted and accountable
custodian of data within a new era of European data protection
governance.
