German Multi-Utility Takes First Steps Toward Improving Service
Through Scheduling BURLINGTON, Massachusetts, September 13
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ClickSoftware Technologies Ltd
(NASDAQ:CKSW), the leading provider of workforce and service
optimization solutions, today announced that Badenova, a partly
owned subsidiary of Thuga AG, has selected ClickSoftware's
ClickSchedule solution to optimize scheduling within Badenova's
service operations. Badenova, whose private minority shareholder
(48 percent), Thuga AG, is a 98 percent subsidiary of Germany's
largest energy company, E.ON AG, is a multi-utility provider in
southern Germany. As such, there are a number of job types that
Badenova's 210 technicians need to be scheduled to do. To manage
this scheduling process more efficiently, Badenova is implementing
a software application designed to help its dispatchers make the
best decisions possible in the moment of scheduling. At the same
time, Badenova has centralized a previously decentralized
dispatching process, thereby gaining further efficiency benefits.
Centralization can only be achieved, however, with the appropriate
supporting software, such as ClickSoftware's ClickSchedule product.
"Our dispatchers are quite adept at their jobs," said Matthias
Nikolay, board member at Badenova, "but the fact is that scheduling
can be a high-pressure job that can lead to suboptimal decisions
and higher costs. ClickSoftware's solution will enable our
dispatchers to more consistently schedule the most appropriate
technician for a job, which will greatly improve our customer
service, as well as give us greater control over our costs. In
addition, the solution will make us much more efficient." "Also,
the flexibility inherent in ClickSchedule's design enables us to
use a phased approach to our implementation of certain
capabilities, which will help us in the long run with change
management." ClickSchedule's optimization capabilities take into
consideration numerous company-defined criteria-including type of
job, available technicians, technician skill sets, distance between
technician jobs, etc.-when aiding dispatchers in their scheduling
decisions. In its initial implementation, installed in late
November 2004 and live in January 2005, Badenova did not enable
ClickSchedule's automated components. Automation will be added to
the solution in phase two of the implementation in January 2006.
The ClickSchedule solution was purchased, together with the SAP
certified R/3 Adaptor, by Badenova from Wessendorf Software and
Consulting GmbH, an SAP software partner and ClickSoftware reseller
headquartered in Berlin, Germany. "We have been optimizing
scheduling in the utilities industry for many years, and we have
seen what benefits the adoption of scheduling optimization can
bring to a company like Badenova," said Professor Moshe BenBassat,
founder and CEO of ClickSoftware. "Badenova's decision to optimize
its service scheduling is a testimony to the company's dedication
to both customer service and cost management." About ClickSoftware
