practices.(a) Compiled by Los Angeles-based research firm Audit
Integrity, the list was culled from 8,000 U.S. public companies
whose market values exceed $250 million. According to Audit
Integrity, which does research on corporate governance best
practices, these American companies "showed the highest degree of
accounting transparency and fair dealing to stake-holders during
2006." The study that generated this list employed financial and
non-financial factors associated with the monitoring of fraud or
financial misrepresentation, and yielded an �Accounting and
Governance Risk� score for each company. Per the FORBES.com story,
Audit Integrity notes that keeping good books is more than a matter
of doing �the right thing,� it is a profitable way to conduct
business. Specifically, the firm noted, "We have also found a
significant and persistent link between integrity and market
