Specialty Underwriters' Alliance, Inc. Announces Preliminary Results of 2009 Annual Meeting of Stockholders

CHICAGO, May 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Specialty Underwriters'
Alliance, Inc. (NASDAQ:SUAI) ("SUA" or the "Company") today
announced the preliminary results of its Annual Meeting of
Stockholders held on May 5, 2009. Based on preliminary voting
results received from IVS Associates, Inc., the independent
inspector of election, stockholders of the Company have re-elected
Robert E. Dean, Raymond C. Groth, Paul A. Philp, Courtney C. Smith,
Robert H. Whitehead and Russell E. Zimmermann. According to the
preliminary voting results, with respect to the Board seat
currently held by Peter E. Jokiel, no nominee received a plurality
of the votes of the shares present in person or represented by
proxy at the Annual Meeting. In addition, based on the preliminary
voting results, the stockholders voted to ratify the appointment of
PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as the Company's independent registered
public accounting firm for 2009. IVS Associates, Inc. has informed
the Company that representatives of Hallmark Financial Services,
Inc. have requested a review of the preliminary tabulation report.
The Company expects that such review will be conducted within a
week and that the inspector of election will certify voting results
