last year as surging demand for tablet computers and smartphones

In the company's fiscal fourth quarter, Skyworks expects to earn
53 cents per share, excluding items, on revenue of $400 million.
For the third quarter, the company reported a net income of $51.5
million, or 27 cents per share, compared with $34.7 million, or 19
cents per share, last year.
Skyworks' competitor RF Micro Devices said earlier this week
that its fiscal first-quarter net income fell 69 percent to $8.9
million, or 3 cents per share, compared with $28.3 million, or 10
cents per share, in the year-ago quarter.
