PR Newswire (Canada)
FORT COLLINS, CO, Nov. 1 /CNW/ -- Eaton to Supply Components for
Hydro-Quebec Project FORT COLLINS, CO, Nov. 1 /CNW Telbec/ -
Woodward Governor Company (Nasdaq: WGOV) today announced that the
company signed a five-year agreement with Eaton Corporation to
supply components and assemblies to be integrated into Woodward's
CONCYCLE® converters for REpower wind turbines. The converters will
support five projects in the Canadian province of Quebec under the
previously announced Hydro-Quebec Distribution wind power project
with REpower. The power converters will be manufactured at
Woodward's Colorado plant and will also include local content
manufactured in New Richmond, Gaspésie region of Canada by Eaton.
Woodward will build up to 477 wind power converters for REpower
Systems. The converters, to be delivered from 2010 to 2015, will be
installed at the Hydro-Quebec wind power project in the Gaspésie
area of Quebec, Canada, and will supply up to 954 MW of electrical
power. This will provide a great opportunity for the region to
employ local workers with the skills to support the high-technology
wind power project demands. Woodward's experience with REpower in
similar projects around the world will provide both a solid wind
power solution for the Quebec project as well as capital investment
to the region. It will also provide employment opportunity and wind
power technology training for the people in the area. Woodward has
supplied CONCYCLE® converters for REpower wind turbines for more
than ten years. The converters control the voltage and power from
the wind turbines for constant voltage and frequency that are
independent of the variable rotation speed coming from the wind
turbine. The converter ensures the consumer delivery of
high-quality delivery of power to the grid. About Woodward Woodward
