EDO Corporation (NYSE: EDO) has received a $15 million follow-on award for expanded support of the Army�s force protection system known as C-RAM (Counter Rocket, Artillery, and Mortar). The task order was effective April 1 and includes in-theater support. The C-RAM �system of systems� combines a variety of existing systems to: detect incoming mortars or rockets; intercept them with self-destructing explosive bullets; warn exposed soldiers; and enable timely counterattack of the enemy. �We have been providing a range of professional and engineering services to assist the Army in deploying C-RAM,� said James M. Smith, EDO�s chief executive officer. �These include testing and validation of the systems at test facilities and in the field, assistance in fielding systems, and logistics services to ensure their continued operation.
