Lorenzo Creighton Named President and COO of MGM Grand Detroit LAS
VEGAS, Feb. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MGM MIRAGE (NYSE:MGM)
today announced several major promotions at the company's resorts
effective March 3. "As we continue to build this company, we are
fortunate to be able to rely on an unparalleled team of senior
managers within our own executive ranks," said Terry Lanni,
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MGM MIRAGE. "Each of these
promotions is well-deserved," Mr. Lanni said. Lorenzo Creighton
Lorenzo Creighton, who, since 2005, has served President and Chief
Operating Officer (COO) of New York-New York Hotel & Casino in
Las Vegas, has been named President and Chief Operating Officer of
MGM Grand Detroit Casino. Mr. Creighton will report to Jim Murren,
MGM MIRAGE President and COO. Mr. Creighton's career has been
wide-ranging, having served as an attorney, judge and gaming
industry regulator. In addition, he has more than 10 years of
experience in casino operations. Prior to joining MGM MIRAGE, he
served as the President of the Flamingo Hilton in Las Vegas, where
he made history as the Las Vegas Strip's first African-American
property president. Mr. Creighton has previously held executive
positions at locations such as Lady Luck in Natchez, Miss.; The
President Casino in St Louis, Mo., and Bally's Casino in New
Orleans. George Boyer George Boyer, most recently President and COO
of MGM Grand Detroit Casino, remains within MGM MIRAGE, serving as
a Senior Executive in MGM MIRAGE Development, a subsidiary of the
Company. Cynthia Kiser Murphey Cynthia Kiser Murphy, currently the
Senior Vice President of MGM MIRAGE Human Resources, has been named
President and COO of New York-New York Hotel & Casino. She is
the second woman to be named by MGM MIRAGE to head a major Las
Vegas Strip property, following Renee West, who was appointed
President and Chief Operating Officer of Excalibur in 2005 and
remains in that position today. Ms. Kiser Murphey will report to
Jim Murren, MGM MIRAGE President and COO. Ms. Kiser Murphey joined
the Company in 1989 and served on the Human Resources opening team
for The Mirage. She then joined the MGM Grand Las Vegas opening
team in 1992 and managed all Human Resources activities related to
the property's opening. Her leadership was instrumental toward the
creation of an in-house corporate university and an on-site child
development center, as well as the design of a benefits program
that is unmatched in the industry. Last year, she led the company's
negotiating team during collective bargaining talks with the
Culinary Union, the largest such agreement in the city's history.
Ms. Kiser Murphey is involved in a number of charitable and
professional organizations and was previously named "Executive of
the Year" by Human Resources Executive magazine. She has served as
Co-Chair of the Health Services Coalition of Southern Nevada, a
Trustee for the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees
International Union Health and Welfare Fund, and on the State of
Nevada Governor's Commission on Medical Education, Research and
Training. Bill Hornbuckle Bill Hornbuckle's responsibilities have
been expanded to include the role as President and COO of the MGM
Grand Atlantic City development. He will also retain his current
position as President and COO of Mandalay Bay Resort. On matters
relating to Mandalay Bay, Mr. Hornbuckle will continue to report to
Jim Murren, MGM MIRAGE President and COO. He will report to Ken
Rosevear, President of MGM MIRAGE Development on matters relating
to MGM Grand Atlantic City. A 25-year veteran of the gaming
industry, Mr. Hornbuckle previously served as President and COO of
MGM MIRAGE Europe, a position he assumed after spending three years
as President and COO of MGM Grand Las Vegas. Before joining MGM
Grand, he was President and COO for Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. Mr.
Hornbuckle spent the majority of his career with Mirage Resorts in
various senior management positions, including President and COO of
the Golden Nugget Laughlin, Executive Vice President and COO of
Treasure Island (TI), and Vice President of Hotel Operations for
The Mirage -- opening the hotel in 1989. He serves on the Board of
Directors of the Andre Agassi Foundation, the United Way of
Southern Nevada, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas
Foundation. He also served on the board of the Las Vegas Convention
and Visitors Authority from 1999 to 2003. MGM GRAND DETROIT The
