Thirteen phone retailers have signaled they will sell services provided by the New Zealand government's private-public ultra-fast broadband network, NZ Crown Fibre Holdings said Tuesday.

The government-owned agency said companies including Vodafone NZ, a subsidiary of Vodafone Group PLC (VOD, VOD.LN), have signed letters of intent to sell the more than NZ$3 billion network to customers when it is completed.

The government has chosen partners to build the network in three of 28 regions in the country and work has begun. It is still in discussions with parties to build the rest of the network including that in cities Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. No timetable for awarding the regions has been given.
