Standard Register Introduces New Software Module to Keep Hospital
Admissions Fully Operational During Catastrophic Events DAYTON,
Ohio, July 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Standard Register
(NYSE:SR), a leading information solutions company, announces the
launch of a vital software solution to keep hospital admissions
fully operational in the event of a network failure or natural
disaster. The new Network Optional Downtime Module gives healthcare
facilities the ability to produce legible, complete patient
admission and identification documentation whether they have access
to their network or Health Information System (HIS). A catastrophic
event or even everyday network problems cripple a hospital's
ability to effectively manage patient registration and assure
positive patient identification. Though handwritten documentation
is an option, it opens the door to errors and delays at a time when
a hospital may be handling a large influx of patients and proper
patient identification is most critical. "With critical-incident
procedures varying widely from facility to facility, Standard
Register's new Downtime Module offers an easy-to-implement solution
that brings uniformity and security to downtime situations," said
Donna Beladi, Standard Register's chief marketing officer. The
Network Optional Downtime Module produces a form or kit of forms
for patient admissions and identification using a local PC and
printer. What differentiates the Network Optional Downtime Module
is its ability to be used no matter if a healthcare facility's
network is up or not. The module "migrates" admission activities to
a more automated process that helps to reduce errors, improve
legibility and support barcode identification documents. Admissions
and nursing staffs are able to produce printed labels, wristbands,
consent forms and other documents on a locally connected printer
with legible patient demographic information and barcodes, as long
as the healthcare facility has access to power through normal
sources or generators. "The Network Optional Downtime Module
supports Standard Register's commitment to providing healthcare
organizations with practical solutions to support them in their
mission to deliver high-quality patient care," said Beladi. About
