35-Year Industry Veteran Provides Extensive Global Semiconductor
Expertise to Electronics Group SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 27
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CMP Media's Electronics Group today
announced the editorial appointment of David Bursky, as the group's
semiconductor editor. Working from Sunnyvale, in the heart of
Silicon Valley, Bursky will be responsible for providing in-depth
editorial perspective and analysis of semiconductor industry and
technology, a critical component of the group's editorial coverage
of the electronics marketplace. He will contribute his expertise on
a weekly basis for print and online news (EE Times and
EETimes.com), while also leveraging his technical experience to
contribute to CMP Media's Heads-Down Web sites and events --
content that electronics engineers need to do their job every day.
"We are delighted that Dave has chosen to join EE Times and I look
forward to making his perspective on semiconductor design an
integral part of the weekly news and analysis mix for our readers,"
said Patrick Mannion, editor of EE Times. "His experience, energy
and reputation precede him and his impact on our readers'
understanding of the semiconductor industry will be nothing short
of immediate." Bursky was previously employed at Electronic Design
since 1973, working in various editorial positions. He served
several years as editor-in-chief for the publication and was
promoted to editor-at-large in 2003, becoming responsible for
defining the direction and content of the magazine as well as
providing editorial coverage of all aspects of digital
semiconductor technology, from processes to architectural
definition, to testing and circuit applications. "I have been
working in the electronics industry for more than three decades and
the pace of development has continued to accelerate over those
years. To keep pace with such developments, I am excited about the
opportunity to join a fast-moving organization such as CMP Media,"
said Bursky. "Moving to a weekly publication will better enable me
to develop stories that will help readers stay on top of the rapid
developments within the semiconductor industry. From my base in the
heart of Silicon Valley I will be able to cover the unbridled
creativity that the valley and the semiconductor industry are known
for." On joining EE Times and CMP Media, Bursky will further
strengthen the electronics industry's most knowledgeable and
distinguished group of technology editors. His strengths in digital
ICs and architectures will round out the process and EDA expertise
of Dave Lammers and Richard Goering, respectively, while
complementing the analog strengths of Bill Schweber and the
communications technology coverage of Loring Wirbel. Bursky has
been awarded the Jesse H. Neal Award for editorial excellence and
was described by the San Jose Mercury News as one of the 100 most
influential people in Silicon Valley. He has taught digital logic
technology at the former RCA Institute in New York City, and has
been a guest lecturer at the Naval Post-Graduate School in
Monterey, Calif. Bursky has also presented, moderated and served on
the program committees of numerous Institute of Electrical and
Electronics Engineers (IEEE) conferences as well as privately run
conferences and has written and compiled six books on topics
ranging from personal computers to semiconductors. He holds both a
bachelor's and master's degree in electrical engineering from the
City College of New York. About CMP Media's Electronics Group The
