Orbitz Launches 'Low Fare Promise' Site with Most Low Fares Puts Money Where Its Mouth Is CHICAGO, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Orbitz, the site with more low fares, more hotels and more cars, is the first travel agency to announce a Low Fare Promise available to all travelers who book flights on any of the site's 455 airlines. Orbitz's new low fare commitment joins the established OrbitzSaver Low Rate Guarantee to offer travelers assurance that flights and hotels available on Orbitz.com represent the Internet's best prices. Effective today, if a customer finds a published airfare online for the same airline and flight reservation that is at least $5 less, excluding service fees, than what they purchased on Orbitz.com, Orbitz will compensate the traveler with a $50 coupon per ticket redeemable for future travel. "Travelers prefer to shop on Orbitz because we make travel easy -- from our powerful search tools and comprehensive Matrix Display that makes it a snap to find a low price to our leading Customer Care program that provides proactive traveler assistance," said John Samuel, executive vice president of Consumer Travel at Orbitz. "Orbitz's new Low Fare Promise and existing OrbitzSaver Low Rate Guarantee reinforce our ongoing commitment to provide users with a superior travel planning experience and the best prices on the web." To benefit from Orbitz's Low Fare Promise, customers should fill out the online claim form found at Orbitz.com under the "My Trips" tab by midnight Central Time on the same day they purchased their ticket on Orbitz. Valid claims will receive a coupon in the amount of $50 for every ticket in the Orbitz reservation, which is redeemable on any future flight, hotel, rental car or vacation package purchased on Orbitz.com. The new fare promise applies to published airfares, including web fares, purchased on Orbitz.com and Orbitz for Business, and is valid with domestic flight reservations only. Restrictions apply and a complete list of terms and conditions is included below. Travelers can also shop for hotels with confidence on Orbitz.com. Earlier this year, the company introduced an online rate guarantee for all OrbitzSaver hotels that refunds the price difference if a lower rate is found. More information on the OrbitzSaver Guarantee and Low Fare Promise is available at Orbitz.com. The Orbitz Low Fare Promise is available to any customer who makes a qualifying airfare purchase through the Orbitz.com website. Qualifying purchase must occur at Orbitz.com on/after October 23, 2004. 2. The Orbitz Low Fare Promise applies only to airline tickets purchased on Orbitz.com for travel within the domestic 50 United States, and only for tickets purchased using a valid credit card with a United States billing address. 3. The Orbitz Low Fare Promise applies only to the total airfare and does not apply to differences based on service, booking, processing, shipping, paper-ticket and other fees not collected on the airline ticket. 4. If you find an airfare for the same flights and dates of travel, on the same airline, with the same flight numbers, for the same passengers, itinerary, cabin, and subject to the same fare restrictions on any other full service travel Web site or airline site that is at least $5 lower than the airfare you purchased on the same day on Orbitz.com, Orbitz will give you a coupon in the amount of $50 for every ticket in your Orbitz reservation, redeemable on your next Orbitz.com purchase. 5. To submit a claim, fill out and submit the claim form located next to your itinerary under the My Trips tab on Orbitz.com. Once you select the qualifying trip, click the "Low Fare Promise" link and the claim form will automatically include the required details of your trip. You will need to provide the following additional information: -- Complete Web address (URL) reflecting the lower airfare you found online -- Total airfare quoted on the other Web site for all tickets including taxes (but excluding web site service, booking, processing, shipping or other fees) 6. Your claim must be submitted by midnight Central Time of the same day you purchased your ticket on Orbitz.com. Claims may be submitted only via the online claim form at Orbitz.com and not through any other e-mail address or any Orbitz phone number. 7. The Orbitz Low Fare Promise applies to lower airfares of $5 or greater found on another full-service travel Web site or airline Web site. The confirmed airfare you purchased on Orbitz.com will be compared to the airfare on the other site at the last point immediately prior to purchase. Fares must be compared with like fare restrictions, so for example, if an unrestricted airfare is purchased on Orbitz.com, it will not qualify for the Orbitz Low Fare Promise if compared to a restricted airfare found on another Web site. 8. The Orbitz Low Fare Promise does not apply to lower airfares that are available on Orbitz.com or to refundable tickets that you choose to refund. 9. Orbitz reserves the right to deny any claims that cannot be verified, or for which you have provided incomplete information. 10. The Low Fare Promise does not apply to unpublished rates that are not available to the general public. Rates not available to the general public include, but are not limited to, corporate discount airfares, government fares, military fares, meeting fares, wholesaler fares or consolidator fares. 11. The Low Fare Promise does not apply to package fares, such as airfares sold as part of a travel package. 12. The Low Fare Promise does not apply to airfares where the carrier or itinerary details are unknown until after purchase, nor does it apply to differences of less than $5 or to service, booking, processing, shipping, paper-ticket and other fees not charged on the airline ticket. 13. The Low Fare Promise does not apply to total airfares on another Web site that have been reduced as a result of promotional discounts, such as dollars off coupons, loyalty program discounts or fly free offers. 14. An Orbitz for Business member may not be eligible for the Low Fare Promise if his/her employer elects not to participate. Check with the company's travel administrator for policy details. Verification of Claims and Coupon Redemption Following submission of a claim, the Orbitz Customer Service Team will contact you via e-mail. If we are unable to replicate the lower airfare, we may request additional information and documentation (such as a screen shot) from you in order to verify the lower online airfare. Please keep a copy of all such documentation. 1. Orbitz reserves the right to deny any claims that cannot be verified, or for which you have provided incomplete information. 2. Upon verification of the lower online airfare, Orbitz will send you an E-mail Coupon ("EC") in an amount equal to $50 USD for each eligible ticket purchased as part of the same confirmed reservation on Orbitz.com. One EC will be issued per reservation to cover all ticketed travelers and is valid for a future purchase on Orbitz.com. You can expect to receive your EC via e-mail within 10-15 business days of verification of your claim. 3. ECs are valid toward future purchases of travel products booked on Orbitz.com within one year of the EC issue date. To redeem an EC on a new purchase, the new purchase must equal or exceed the total amount of the EC. The EC amount will be refunded to the credit card used for payment on the new purchase. Extensions will not be permitted and ECs will not be replaced or reissued for any reason. 4. ECs are not redeemable for cash, are not transferable or assignable and may not be purchased or auctioned and any attempt to do so will result in the voiding of the EC. ECs have no cash value. 5. ECs will only be issued to the Orbitz member account under which the qualifying airfare purchase was made. 6. The EC is the sole and exclusive compensation that will be provided for Orbitz's failure to fulfill its Low Fare Promise. 7. If your qualifying purchase on Orbitz.com is for a refundable ticket and you later refund the ticket, any EC issued in connection with the Orbitz Low Fare Promise as a result of your having submitted a claim based on finding a fare lower than the fare you paid on the refunded ticket will become void and invalid. If your qualifying purchase is cancelled within 48 hours of purchase, your claim or any issued EC will not be valid. 8. To redeem your EC you will need to complete a new purchase on Orbitz.com as outlined above and send an e-mail to containing the following information about your new purchase: -- Orbitz Record Locator (this is your 8-digit alpha-numeric Orbitz confirmation #) for the new product you purchased on Orbitz.com -- E-mail address of your Orbitz account -- EC code (this will be the EC code # we sent to you via e-mail) -- Coupon amount Void where prohibited by law. Any modification will be effective upon posting of modified Orbitz Low Fare Promise Terms and Conditions on the Orbitz.com web site. Any cancellation will be effective upon removal of references to the Orbitz Low Fare Promise and the Orbitz Low Fare Promise Terms and Conditions from the Orbitz.com web site. If the Orbitz Low Fare Promise is cancelled for any reason, the ECs issued will continue to be valid until their expiration date.
