Oro Silver Resources Ltd. ("Oro Silver" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: OSR) reports that it has received results from SGS Laboratories, Toronto, Canada from first-stage lab testing of ammonium thiosulphate leaching of ore from its El Compas property in Zacatecas, Mexico. The testing program focused on thiosulphate processing as an alternative means to cyanidation processes to extract gold and silver at its El Compas mine and potentially from its El Orito vein.

The preliminary test results showed up to 90% recovery of gold and 50% recovery of silver on a sample grading 3.66 g/t gold and 65.3 g/t silver, after grinding to 80% passing 73 microns and leaching in an alkaline aqueous solution of ammonium thiosulphate.

Tom Bagan, Vice President and COO of Oro Silver stated, "These test results show that ammonium thiosulphate could be an alternative processing option to a cyanidation system for its El Compas ore. This provides much more flexibility in our operational planning and permitting process. This first phase test program in obtaining high recoveries is very encouraging. In addition, the thiosulphate extraction method for gold and silver is considered another viable option that would be less capital cost intensive allowing for the mine to potentially be more profitable with a shorter payback period."

Previous work carried out by SGS Laboratories using cyanide leach testing on El Compas property ore reported gold and silver recoveries of over 95% and 70% respectively.

Oro Silver has completed a National Instrument 43-101 technical report covering the mineral resource estimation on El Compas. The mineral resource estimation was disclosed in the Company's press release dated September 18, 2008. The indicated portion of the mineral resource was estimated at 310,000 tonnes grading 5.82 g/t gold and 59.09 g/t silver for 58,000 gold ounces and 588,900 silver ounces. The inferred portion of the mineral resource was estimated at 234,000 tonnes grading 4.94 g/t gold and 45.69 g/t Ag for 37,200 gold ounces and 343,700 silver ounces. Both categories were calculated using a 3.0 g/t gold-equivalent cut-off.

Current Drilling Program

The objective of the current drilling at the El Compas and El Orito vein targets is to: (i) increase the near-surface gold and silver resource, (ii) test for deeper potential high-grade silver and gold feeder structures, and (iii) have a positive impact on Oro Silver's in-house scoping study.

Highlight results previously reported from the drilling completed at the El Compas vein include:

- 193.2 g/t gold and 1,263.9 g/t silver over 4.3 metres (true width) in 09COM043 approximately 50 metres below the El Compas mine portal, and is the highest grade drill intercept reported to date.

At the El Orito Vein target, the last round of drilling returned the following best intercept to date:

- 5.2 g/t gold and 87.7 g/t silver over a true width of 5.3 metres in drill hole 09COM046 located approximately 60 metres below surface which includes the higher grade vein intercepts of 15.2 g/t gold and 242.0 g/t silver over 2.6 metres and 18.3 g/t gold and 426.9 g/t silver over 0.5 metres.

Darren Bahrey, President and CEO of Oro Silver commented, "We are very encouraged with the high-grade gold and silver grades returned by the latest round of drilling. Even more impressive are the significant vein widths being intersected at shallow depths. Drilling will continue in 2010 with the aim of making more high-grade vein discoveries and adding ounces to our gold and silver resource base."

More drilling has been completed at both El Orito and El Compas vein targets to include holes 47 to 56. Assays are pending and will be reported this month (see appended map for drill hole locations: http://media3.marketwire.com/docs/oro17map1.JPG).
