KUALA LUMPUR--Genting Malaysia Bhd. (4715.KU) said Thursday its unit has failed in its bid to secure a license to run a casino project in the state of New York.

Genting Malaysia's proposal for a $1.5 billion casino project in Tuxedo, N.Y., in Orange County was among the 13 other proposals rejected on Wednesday by the New York's Gaming Facility Location Board.

Its unit, RW Orange County LLC, submitted its bid on June 30 and "has not been successful in its applications," Genting Malaysia said without elaborating.
