S&P Capital IQ announced it has commenced Standard & Poor’s Factual Stock Report coverage on American Energy Development Corp. (AED, OTCBB: AEDC). AED is an emerging U.S. energy company committed to creating American energy independence through the development of acreage in established oil and gas basins.

The company uses the latest geological, geophysical, and environmental technology to locate, drill, and produce oil and gas in the United States and secure regions. AED is currently focused on the development of the Niagaran oil reefs in Michigan and underexplored onshore basins in the United Kingdom.

Historical records of the Niagaran reef production indicate more than 4,200 wells have been drilled in the reef formation, producing a total of 472 million barrels of oil and 2.8 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, with development of reef trends driven primarily by Royal Dutch Shell, BP and ExxonMobil. According to a recent USGS report on the basin, the recoverable reserves exceed 1.8 billion barrels of oil and 17 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

Guided by a proprietary databank of more than 16,500 acres of 3D seismic data, AED has commenced a multi-well drilling program on the 1,343 acre Dansville prospect in Ingham County where it has a 43.75% working interest. In February, AED announced the sale of 1,000 barrels of oil produced from its first well in the project, and it has begun the development of the next two wells. The sites have been surveyed, bonded and have received all required permits by the State of Michigan, with drilling expected to begin during the second quarter.

AED recently increased its asset portfolio by acquiring approximately 4,200 acres in the White-tail Prospect, located within a proven reef play covering approximately 2.5 million acres in the prolific Northern Michigan region. AED is targeting Niagaran reef structures in an area developed by Royal Dutch Shell, ExxonMobil and BP. The largest reefs drilled in the area are the Chester 18A field (with 14 million barrels of recoverable oil drilled by Royal Dutch Shell) and the Grant 13 field (with approximately 47 billion cubic feet of recoverable natural gas).

“This extensive new coverage by S&P Capital IQ helps us deliver important information about our company to the financial community, as well as increase our visibility among analysts and institutional investors,” said Herold Ribsskog, president of AED. “The report also shares our positive fundamental outlook for oil & gas exploration and production, as they expect strong oil prices and production growth to generate higher earnings and cash flow industry-wide.”
