LONDON (AFP)--The U.K. joined international condemnation Friday
of suicide bombings in Jakarta which killed at least nine people,
calling them "an attack on all decent people."
"These attacks, remind us, yet again, of the threat people of
all races and religions face from violent extremists," Foreign
Secretary David Miliband said in a statement.
"An attack on Indonesia is an attack on all decent people. The
bombings are in marked contrast to the wishes of the millions of
Indonesians who voted peacefully in last week's elections.
"We will continue to work with the government of Indonesia to
stop terrorism. Today we stand in solidarity and sorrow."
The bombings in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim
nation, targeted two luxury Jakarta hotels popular with foreigners,
the Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott.
Officials said more than 40 other people were injured, and
pinned suspicion on a splinter faction of the extremist Jemaah
Islamiyah group led by Malaysian-born bomb maker Noordin Mohammed
