On April 8, 2009, Provident Bankshares Corporation (“Provident”) announced that the stockholders of Provident approved the pending merger with M&T Bank Corporation.

A copy of the press release announcing stockholder approval of the merger is attached as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated herein by reference.
