Com-Guard Licenses Preventon's Desktop Control Application That
Prevents Pornographic Images From Being Displayed and Secures
Desktop Applications CARLSBAD, Calif., Nov. 25
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Com-Guard, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: CGUD) ,
the technology company that markets integrated solutions for the
computer security, content filtering, and access control markets,
today announced a licensing agreement with Preventon Technologies
Ltd., a British software company, to develop a Com-Guard branded
product that will use Preventon's application as its foundation.
Com-Guard will augment its current product line by enhancing its
offering in the parental control area with the advanced Image
Composition Analysis (ICA) technology to block the display of
pornographic images and text sent through websites, email, and
webmail. Also, having an offering with the features of the
Preventon Desktop Security product will enhance the current
Com-Guard PC security software. Preventon's award-winning Desktop
Security product also provides the option of locking down of
Windows programs that could be used on the PC. Access to approved
Windows programs can be controlled by time of day and unapproved
software can be blocked, enforcing businesses' licensing policies
and avoiding game-playing or unauthorized internet access by family
members or employees! The ICA technology used in this application
is unlike most porn filtering solutions, which only block certain
URLs (web addresses) that are believed to contain offensive
material. Alternatively, ICA employs advanced analysis methods to
scan the content of images and text, in real-time, before they are
displayed to determine if the attributes are of an obscene or
"adult" nature. The text analysis even protects against
objectionable user-defined words and phrases! Dr. Edward W.
Savarese, Founder and CEO of Com-Guard, Inc., said the licensing
agreement will both strengthen Com-Guard's own security software
product line and provide the company with a new, independent
revenue stream through sales of it's new product to customers in
the USA. "Preventon's application should fit very well with our own
technologies," said Dr. Savarese. "Along with computer misuse,
intrusive porn imagery remains a serious issue for families,
schools, businesses, and many other organizations where individuals
use the Web, email and webmail. We believe Preventon's Content
Filter using ICA can make a significant difference in combating
unwanted, inappropriate adult images and text at home or the
office." Com-Guard will be featured on the MarketShare Recovery
