Open System Consultants Teams with Performance Technologies to
Provide GSM Authentication ROCHESTER, N.Y., March 15
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Performance Technologies (Nasdaq NM:
PTIX); a leading developer of integrated systems, platforms,
components and software; today announced they have teamed with Open
System Consultants (OSC) to provide Global System for Mobile
communication (GSM) operators secure authentication, authorization
and accounting for wired or wireless networks. The solution will
combine OSC's Radiator authentication server with Performance
Technologies' SEGway(TM) signaling gateways. "By teaming with
Performance Technologies, we can offer wireless carriers
authentication options to better serve their customers and provide
a new revenue stream in Wi-Fi hotspots," said Mike McCauley, chief
technologist for Open System Consultants. "Performance
Technologies' field-proven software and experience in worldwide,
carrier-grade solutions enables them to provide the solid SS7
connectivity our customers require." OSC's Radiator server supports
user authentication for wireless and wired LANs utilizing nearly 60
different types of authentication methods. Based on the RADIUS
protocol, this solution allows users to authenticate access to a
wireless LAN network using a mobile phone Subscriber Identity
Module (SIM) card. Using Radiator and its EAP-SIM support,
operators and carriers can construct complete SIM wireless
authentication and billing systems that interoperate with the
existing worldwide GSM mobile phone authentication and billing
systems, enabling a simple and seamless experience for roaming
wireless LAN users. Performance Technologies' suite of SEGway
signaling gateway solutions, designed to support the convergence of
SS7 and IP networks, offers unparalleled performance and
functionality for wireless and VoIP networks. Performance
Technologies' Signaling Gateway for Subscriber Authentication
(SGSA) is based on the company's popular signaling software and is
a value- added addition to the company's industry-leading SEGway
product family. The SGSA enables public wireless Internet hotspots
to easily authenticate users based on the GSM SIM card, over the
SS7 network. "In looking to establish an EAP/SIM partner, we sought
a RADIUS system with a proven record of installations and wide
range of client software connectivity that would best align with
our signaling software," said Normand Glaude, managing director for
Performance Technologies' Signaling Systems Group. "We have built
successful EAP/SIM systems with OSC on behalf of mutual customers
in the past, and we are confident this collaboration will benefit
both companies." About Open System Consultants Open System
