Southwest Ambulance and Cardiac Science Announce an Exclusive
Public-Access Defibrillator Marketing Partnership MESA, Ariz. and
IRVINE, Calif., June 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Southwest
Ambulance, a subsidiary of Rural/Metro Corporation (NASDAQ:RURL), a
leading provider of medical transportation and private fire
protection services, and Cardiac Science Inc. (NASDAQ:DFIB), a
leading manufacturer of life-saving automatic public-access
defibrillators (AEDs), today announced an exclusive marketing
partnership agreement under which Cardiac Science will be the
official AED provider for Southwest Ambulance. Under the agreement,
the companies will jointly develop a public-access defibrillation
program to create awareness about sudden cardiac arrest and
stimulate the deployment of AEDs throughout the local communities
served by Southwest Ambulance in the southwestern United States.
Barry Landon, President of Southwest Ambulance said, "Deploying
AEDs in the communities we serve will be an important mandate for
our organization in the coming months and years. There is ample
data indicating that AEDs in businesses and public places make a
significant impact on survival rates when it comes to sudden
cardiac arrest. Making sure that the community is aware of these
benefits and has access to these devices is an important
contribution that we can bring to each community in which we
operate." Landon continued, "We selected Cardiac Science because of
their innovative AED products and demonstrated success with these
types of public-access defibrillator marketing partnerships. This
program affirms our mission of providing the highest level of
emergency medical transportation services and education to the
residents of the communities we serve." About Southwest Ambulance
