PR Newswire (US)
More Than 97,000 People Attending Church Events Weekly IRVINE,
Calif., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cardiac Science, Inc.
(NASDAQ:DFIB), a leading manufacturer of life-saving public-access
defibrillators (AEDs), announced today that the Catholic Diocese of
Fort Worth, Texas has completed deploying Powerheart(R) AEDs in all
its facilities, including 90 parishes, 19 schools and other
Diocesan locations throughout 28 North Central Texas counties
covering more than 23,000 square miles. Peter Flynn, Director of
Finance and Administrative Services for the Diocese, said the
selection of the Powerheart AEDs came after a thorough review of
AEDs available in the marketplace. "Our objective was to have
life-saving AED equipment available to protect more than 97,000
parishioners who attend Mass each week and nearly 7,000 students
who attend school daily," Flynn said. "When deciding which AED to
purchase, our selection committee looked at reliability, ease of
use and multilingual capabilities as our primary criteria. The
Powerheart device fulfilled what we were looking for and Cardiac
Science's reputation for reliability and service closed the deal."
Flynn added, "We want every person who attends an event or Mass in
any facility owned by the Diocese of Fort Worth to know that we are
concerned for their safety and prepared to act in a medical
emergency. Having an AED available is an important part of helping
us reach this goal." Cardiac Science Chairman and CEO Raymond W.
Cohen said, "The leadership of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth
should be recognized for being proactive in protecting their
congregation against cardiac arrest. Over one hundred AEDs, which
we shipped at the end of June, were deployed in North Texas
churches and schools this summer. We believe this order represents
the single largest deployment of AEDs to date to a religious
organization in America and is indicative of yet another new and
significant market segment which we anticipate will continue to be
further penetrated in for the months and years to come." About the
