Allen, who joined eCollege in 1997 as a software engineer, helped build eCollege's first course management system and has since played a critical role in the advancement of eCollege's technology infrastructure. "Vance has been instrumental in developing and evolving our system to provide the highest levels of reliability, scalability, security and performance, ensuring industry leading system uptime and availability," said Oakleigh Thorne, chairman and CEO. Most recently, Allen served as vice president and managing director of software and technology where he was responsible for software development. During his tenure with eCollege, he also has served as a development manager where he led the re-architecting of the course platform to a Microsoft solution; director of software engineering where he helped develop the campus portal and administrative pages software products; and vice president of software engineering, where he continued to advance the eCollege system to where it is today. Allen holds a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Pomona College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado.
