PLC Medical Systems and Miltenyi Biotec Sponsor Presentation on Stem Cell Therapy in Cardiac Surgery

-- New research on cardiac tissue regeneration using stem cells
alone or in combination with a variety of therapies -- FRANKLIN,

that in conjunction with Miltenyi Biotec, Bergisch Gladbach,
Germany, it sponsored a presentation by Professor Hans-Michael
Klein from the Medical School of Dusseldorf University in Germany
entitled "Stem Cell Therapy in Cardiac Surgery." This presentation
focused on the intramyocardial application of bone marrow-derived
stem cells in combination with CO2 TMR. Dr. Klein, a cardiac
surgeon with extensive experience with CO2 TMR and Stem Cell
Therapy, provided a review of new innovative cardiac tissue
regeneration research. The presentation included data on stem cell
therapy alone, stem cells with coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)
surgery, and stem cells combined with CO2 TMR. Dr. Klein's
presentation concluded that stem cells combined with CO2 TMR may
provide an improvement in cardiac function in heart failure
patients when compared to stem cells alone or stem cells with CABG.

bone marrow cells, also known as the homing effect, which starts a
cascade of events leading to an angiogenic and vasogenic response

Excellence program at the Pepin Heart Hospital & Dr. Kiran C.
Patel Research Institute, in Tampa, Florida, which will feature a
presentation on TMR by Dr. Ernesto Jimenez. "These programs provide
