PR Newswire (US)
THE NATION'S PREMIER CELEBRATION OF FEMALE WINEMAKERS AND FINE
CUISINE IN SUPPORT OF TWO WOMEN'S CHARITIES ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.,
Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, November 10th, 2007, Borgata
Hotel Casino & Spa (1 Borgata Way, 866-My Borgata), the East
Coast's leading hotel-casino and dining destination, will host its
signature charity tasting event Women in Wine, presented by the
Borgata Heart & Soul Foundation and sponsored by Wine Spectator
magazine, the leading wine publication in North America. Featuring
an exciting celebrity chef cook-off and fascinating wine education
forum, Borgata's acclaimed Women in Wine event will honor female
winemakers from around the country. Guests can enjoy the special
and rare opportunity to join some of America's most celebrated
chefs and female vintners for an exclusive sampling of
mouth-watering dishes and incredible wines, as well as the chance
to learn techniques for tasting, selecting and storing wines. This
year's event will be hosted by television icon Robin Leach and will
feature 24 world-renowned winemakers and nine chefs, a celebrity
chef cook-off between Style Network's "Pantry Raid" personality
Michael Schulson and Geoffrey Zakarian, chef-owner of New York's
Town and Country restaurants, and both silent and live auctions,
the latter of which will be hosted by the "goddess of the gavel,"
famed wine auctioneer Ursula Hermacinski. (Logo:

celebrity guests for the evening will include female winemaker and
actress Lorraine Bracco, of The Sopranos, GoodFellas and The
Graduate fame, and female winemaker and Olympic gold medalist Peggy
Fleming, also a breast cancer survivor. At Women in Wine, Bracco
and Fleming will showcase Bracco Wines and Fleming Jenkins
Vineyards & Wineries (respectively). Hosts for the event also
include Anjoleena Griffin-Holst, Borgata's Wine Director, and
Brooke Sabel, Assistant Wine Director for Borgata, two prominent
female sommeliers who uphold the Borgata philosophy that wine
should be fun, not intimidating. One of the highlights of the
evening will be the first-ever "mystery bag cook-off" between
rising star chef Michael Schulson of Style Network's "Pantry Raid"
and celebrity chef-owner of New York's Town and Country
restaurants, Geoffrey Zakarian, as they face-off in before Iron
Palate Karine Bakhoum, one of the Food Network's most recognized
judges on "Iron Chef America" and President of KB Network News, and
"Iron Chef America" producer Bruce Seidel, among others. "Women in
Wine is a celebration of not only these outstanding female
winemakers, who are now shaping the future of wine in a once
predominately male industry, but toasts all women as survivors --
wives, mothers, and daughters -- who are affected by two of the
most important issues today -- domestic violence and breast
cancer," said Anjoleena Griffin-Holst, wine director for Borgata.
"On behalf of Borgata, I am so pleased that Women in Wine has
continued to garner further recognition each year within the
industry and local communities as a one-of-a-kind culinary
experience in Atlantic City, offering exceptional wines and
unparalleled cuisine, but most importantly, raising over
$200,000.00 to-date for these worthy causes." Female winemakers and
vintners shape many of today's major cellars. Those participating
in Women in Wine include Jean Arnold (Hanzell Vineyards, Sonoma,
CA), Lorraine Bracco (Bracco Wines, Italy), Gay Callan (Chatom
Vineyards, Murphys, CA), Rhonda Carano (Ferrari-Carano Vineyards
& Winery, Healdsburg, CA), Stacy Clark (Pine Ridge), Morgan
Clendenen (Cold Heaven Cellars, Los Olivos, CA), Jane Delaney (The

of SEABLUE, A Michael Mina Restaurant, Tara Keeler of Bobby Flay
Steak, Aram Mardigian of Wolfgang Puck American Grille, Luke
Palladino of Specchio and Ombra, Romeo DiBona of Old Homestead
