ATLANTA, June 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- HAVERTY FURNITURE COMPANIES, INC. (NYSE: HVT; HVT.A) today reported sales for the month ended May 31, 2008. Havertys' May sales decreased 3.9% to $61.6 million, compared with $64.1 million in May 2007. On a comparable-store basis, May sales decreased 6.3%. Comparable-store sales do not include stores or locations opened, closed or otherwise non-comparable during the last 12 months. Sales for the first five months of 2008 decreased 2.6% to $300.8 million compared with $308.7 million in 2007. On a comparable-store basis, sales decreased 5.7% for the first five months.
