Rau began his career in banking, including leadership positions at First National Bank of Chicago and was president and CEO of LaSalle National Bank. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics/Mathematics from Boston College, and an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Management. Arnold Donald, prior to joining the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundations as its President and CEO, founded the Merisant Company, whose products include the sweeteners Equal and Canderel.
