Time- WEST MELBOURNE, Fla., May 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RELM
Wireless Corporation (NYSE Amex: RWC) today announced its entry
into the market for P25 digital radios in the high UHF band
(440-520MHz), which includes the frequencies known as "T-Band,"
with the introduction of the KNG P500. Like previously launched KNG
products, the KNG P500 meets the demanding needs of government and
public safety professionals, providing extensive features and
class-A performance combined with durability in a compact,
lightweight package. The KNG-P500 and KNG-P400 (380-470MHz) are the
smallest professional-grade 5-watt UHF portable digital radios in
the market. The FCC (Federal Communication Commission) certified
power rating of 5.7 watts is the highest in the industry and
provides power to extend the radio's reach with superior signal
strength. More efficient power consumption gives all KNG portable
radios an uninterrupted duty cycle of up to 18 hours --
significantly longer than similarly featured models from other
manufacturers. The entire KNG series will be upgradeable to P25
Trunking. Additional features of the KNG P500 include: -- MIL-STD
810 F -- 512 channels and up to 32 zones -- Ease-of-use with
menu-driven programming, Over-the-Air Rekeying (OTAR) and cloning
-- Software-driven upgrades (USB PC programmable) -- NIST-certified
FIPS 140-2 encryption -- IP67 submersible rating -- Customized
keypad and multi-line display Commented RELM President and CEO
David Storey, "We are pleased with the progress of our KNG
development program. The P-500 is the fourth KNG product introduced
within the past year and addresses yet another market segment that,
until now, was outside the scope of our previous products. We
believe our KNG products are beginning to get some traction and
positive recognition with more new customers, as indicated by our
recently announced order from the U.S. Department of Defense.
"Additional new KNG products will follow soon, which should further
extend our addressable market. All KNG radios provide top
performance and durability with a wide selection of features at
industry-best prices -- an attractive combination of advantages,
especially considering the budget challenges facing many government
and public safety agencies today." About APCO Project 25 (P25) APCO

equipment regardless of the manufacturer, was established by the
Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials and is

toward interoperability gained momentum as a result of significant
communications failures during events such as the 9/11 attacks and
