China Sourcing Report: Household Appliances covers products including air- treatment appliances, electric irons, electric and solar water heaters and vacuum cleaners HONG KONG, Dec. 9 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- China household appliance suppliers are expecting strong sales growth during the next 12 months, after significant sales drops in the first seven months of the year. This is according to Global Sources' (NASDAQ:GSOL) China Sourcing Report: Household Appliances ( http://www.chinasourcingreports.com/householdappliances ). (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20030303/LNM011LOGO-b ) The Report includes in-depth profiles of 31 manufacturers and features 130 products, covering electric and solar water heaters, space heaters, electric irons, electric fans, vacuum cleaners, and air-treatment appliances, including purifiers, humidifiers and dehumidifiers. Among surveyed China suppliers engaged primarily in the export of household appliances: * 23 percent predict sales growth greater than 20 percent; * 26 percent expect an increase of between 10 and 20 percent; * 13 percent estimate sales to increase by less than 10 percent; * 10 percent expect sales to remain the same; and * 28 percent foresee a decrease in sales. "While suppliers are confident about sales in the coming months, keeping a tight rein on prices is crucial to stimulating demand at a time when target markets are still exhibiting weaker purchasing power," said Livia Yip, Publisher of the Report. "Among suppliers we surveyed, 68 percent said they are mainly focused on improving operating efficiency to improve their export capabilities." Suppliers refocusing target markets, producing lower-priced models Yip said: "To stay afloat amid decreasing export margins, makers are rethinking their business plans. They are refocusing target markets, product development initiatives and pricing strategies. "While the US and the EU remain primary markets for 60 percent of surveyed suppliers, other exporters said they are mainly focused on emerging markets, including non-EU European countries (17 percent) and the Middle East (13 percent), to grow sales. Many suppliers are also focused on producing units with basic features as the economic slowdown has spurred demand for less expensive models. "In the past year, China suppliers have adapted to new market realities. Buyers sourcing from the region can expect to find a range of products that meet the demands of today's more cost-conscious consumers in different regions around the world."
