LONDON, April 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Ticketmaster UK, a
Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:LYV) company, today announced
it will be selling Paperless tickets for the Michael McIntyre UK
and Ireland arena tour in Autumn
2012.
This is Michael McIntyre's first
tour since he won the British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand-up
in 2009 following his record breaking Arena tour. Tickets went on
sale to the general public Thursday 31st March with venues on the
tour that are powered by AccessManager, the Ticketmaster access
control system, exclusively using Paperless tickets for the best
seats in the house. This means that customers buying the best seats
for dates at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, the O2 Arena in London, The Odyssey Arena in Belfast, the O2 Dublin and London's Wembley Arena, will not receive a
traditional paper tickets but paperless ticket confirmation.
Paperless ticketing allows Ticketmaster, working with
Michael McIntyre event organisers
Off The Kerb Productions, to provide a ticketing service that
ensures fans have a quick, simple and fair way to access and
purchase tickets at face value.
The Ticketmaster Paperless ticketing technology is crucial for
event organisers who want to protect ticket inventory in this way.
The technology ensures smooth, secure and fast entry to the venues
with fans simply bringing along the credit card used to purchase
the tickets.
Ticketmaster has successfully implemented Paperless Ticket
technology before at The O2 London
for concerts by Metallica and the Who, as well as showcase concerts
by The Libertines at The Forum and Arcade Fire at the Hackney
Empire. However, this is the first time it has been put in place
throughout the UK for an Arena tour and the first time ever in
Ireland.
Even though paperless tickets have been used by notable artists
and sports teams in the United
States, in 2010 they only accounted for roughly one-tenth of
one percent of all tickets processed. Last year, Ticketmaster sold
approximately 500,000 paperless tickets of the nearly 400 million
tickets processed.
Joe Norris, Off The Kerb
Productions, said: "We are delighted to be using the paperless
ticketing option provided by Ticketmaster which means we can
protect our tickets and ensure Michael's fans can go to the show at
the right price. We are all excited about what will be Michael's
third and biggest tour to date."
"We are committed to developing products that make tickets
readily available to fans, not those who only want to sell them on
the secondary market. Our Paperless ticketing solution is the ideal
option where event organisers want to ensure that tickets are
offered at face value," said Chris
Edmonds, Managing Director Ticketmaster UK. "We're delighted
to be working with Off The Kerb on Michael
McIntyre's first tour since his phenomenally successful
shows in 2009."
