CORONA DEL MAR, Calif.,
Dec. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/
-- ActionView International, Inc. (OTC: AVEW) today released
additional information about its World Championship Full Contact
(WCFC) Last Man Standing tournament to be held January 20, 2012 at the UCCU Center in
Orem, Utah. The event will
feature two simultaneous 8-man tournaments in both the welterweight
(170 pound) and heavyweight classes. The single-elimination
tournament was first introduced by WCFC earlier in 2011 when Steven
"Razor" Sharp defeated four different fighters in one night to
claim the 155-pound title belt and became the first WCFC Last Man
Standing.
In the 170 pound class, WCFC has contracted with former Ultimate
Fighter contestants Brandon Melendez
and Kyacey Uscola, together with Utah
fighters Mike Arrant and
James Birdsley. The
heavyweight tournament will showcase 6'8" 265 pound phenom
Jack May and UFC alum Fabiano Scherner, along with Utah fighter Ty
Lee. The tournament winners will receive an automatic
shot at the WCFC title belt this summer. A complete fight
card can be found at www.WCFC.com. Utah rap sensation The Commission will open the
show and debut their WCFC-inspired song "Last Man Standing."
Joe Wooten, President of WCFC,
commented, "The tournament style format, where each fight consists
of a single, five minute round, provides the most dynamic and
exciting experience for both spectators and fighters. There's no
time to conserve energy, pace yourself or clutch and grab.
With the tournament winner having faced the best in their division
over the course of single night, fans leave the show having seen
the best action and knowing without question who the best fighter
was."
The WCFC has also partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for
this event so that kids in the program can come to the event free
and meet the fighters. Mr. Wooten added, "The Make-A -Wish
Foundation is one of those organizations that is near and dear to
the hearts of everyone in the WCFC. MMA fighters are some of
the most charitable athletes out there, and this gives them another
avenue to reach out to the fans and bring smiles to the faces of
kids that need something to look forward to. We have
something very exciting planned to make this a night the kids will
never forget." The WCFC is also working with Fight For What's
Right, a non-profit organization founded by MMA athletes to raise
money and awareness to support abused women and children.
Tickets are available at the UCCU box office, at SmithTix and at
www.WCFC.com. Pre-sale general admission tickets are
two-for-$20. In another
Utah first, the WCFC is offering a
special for high school students who can purchase general admission
tickets for just $5. Mr. Wooten
stated, "Some of the most passionate MMA fans are high school
kids. Now, for less than the price of a movie ticket, they
can grab their buddies and come see the greatest live MMA event in
the history of Utah."
The UCCU Center is located on the campus of Utah Valley
University at 800 W. University in Orem. Gates will open at 6:00 with the first
round matches starting at 7:00.
