ICM extends business continuity capability with #2.8m site purchase in Sevenoaks
ICM Computer Group plc, the UK's leading provider of IT Assurance, comprising IT
Support, IT Solutions and Business Continuity services, has acquired an outer
London Business Continuity Centre in Sevenoaks, Kent, for #2.8 million in cash.
It is ICM's third centre capable of providing support to the London market,
complementing both in service and geography the existing facilities in the City
and High Wycombe. This centre is ICM's eighth such facility nationwide.
The Business Continuity Centre is expected to become operational in June 2003.
The freehold site is located two miles from the M25, M26 and nearby M20 motorway
network and close to Sevenoaks main-line rail station. The centre will be able
to accommodate up to 300 users in three suites. The site will also provide
secure datacentre facilities and Wide Area Network services for connectivity
into ICM's other Business Continuity and hosting facilities across the UK.
ICM's specialist Business Continuity Centres provide customers with recovery
facilities and services in the event of a disaster or business interruption.
ICM's Business Continuity Centres offer alternative workplace facilities and
datacentre services including customer specified IT, telephony, call centre
support and network/internet connectivity. They are available for rapid
occupancy in the event of loss of access to the customer's own premises and
facilities.
ICM has implemented a strategy to build up a nationwide network of regional
Business Recovery Centres to complement ICM's existing IT Recovery business. ICM
has seven other similar facilities located in London, Thames Valley, East
Anglia, Birmingham, Manchester, Wakefield and Nottingham.
Barry Roberts, ICM's Chief Executive commented:
"The strong growth of our Business Continuity division endorses our strategy of
investing in a national network of Business Continuity Centres.
"This latest centre offers a complementary or alternative service to those
businesses seeking to mitigate their presence in Central London by contracting
for an Outer-London business continuity service.
"Nationwide we can see that all businesses are becoming increasingly sensitive
to loss of business and IT infrastructure."
