                   NOTIFICATION OF MAJOR INTERESTS IN SHARES

Cambridge, UK, 30 May 2003: Alizyme plc (London Stock Exchange: AZM) announces
that it received, today, the following "Notification of Interest" from ISIS
Asset Management plc.

 "In accordance with the provisions of Sections 198-202 of the Companies Act
1985, we give notice that, as a result of a sale of 300,000 ordinary shares of
2p each in the relevant share capital of your company ("Shares") on 27th May
2003 the following fund management companies in the Friends Provident group are
interested in the Shares referred to below through client holdings:

Friends Provident group in relation to Shares. (It also supersedes all previous
notifications given by members of the Friends Provident group on behalf of the
client(s) named above in relation to Shares)."
