                            Directors' Shareholdings



The Company has been informed that Mr T J Bowdler, Chief Executive, has today
exercised options over 111,050 Ordinary Shares of 10p each in the Company under
the Executive Share Option Scheme at an average option price of 257.77p per
share and sold a total of 85,645 Ordinary Shares at a price of 421p per share.
The entire proceeds of this sale (after tax) will be used to fund the retention
of the remaining shares.


As a result of this transaction Mr T J Bowdler has increased his interest in the
Company by 25,405 Ordinary Shares to a total of 237,510 Ordinary Shares of 10p
each in the Company.
